All musical
/ storytelling programs with
Ken Frawley are
fun, entertaining and full
of audience participation.
His endearing smile, the sparkle
in his eye, his personal enthusiasm
and his experience engage and
involve his audiences’ right
from the start. Ken has performed
for over one thousand libraries,
schools, preschools, community
events, fairs and festivals
throughout Southern California.
Ken’s programs feature
shows that are generally
a combination of songs and
stories but can perform entire
musical concerts for preschool,
children’s (K-6) and
family audiences. Often his
stories are told with the
help of any number of Ken’s
puppet helpers. Depending
on the program, audiences
will meet some of his unique
puppets which include Lana
Banana, an orangutan; The
Great White Bear, a polar
bear cub; Dragon, Brehr Rabbit,
King Monkey, Shamus O’Monkey,
Leo the Lion, The Magical
Mummy of Memphis and more.
Audiences participate in
a variety of ways during
any of Ken’s performances.
Sometimes volunteers come
up on stage to create new
songs, play rhythm instruments,
design actions for the
audience to mimic and help
in the
telling of a story. At
other times audiences will
sing-along,
clap along or use a variety
of hand and body movements
as they play along to some
great traditional folk
songs as well as a variety
of original
tunes.
Ken Frawley is a very versatile
performer and each of his
shows is unique. For one
show he is a cowboy, for
another a medieval troubadour,
or a summer camp counselor,
an Irish storyteller, Santa’s
elf, a Halloween character
or wearing any number of
bright and colorful performing
shirts. There is so little
cross over in the 8 or
more shows that you can
re-book
his shows and very seldom
get a repeat of a song
or a story.
Ken Frawley is currently
president of DreamShapers,
a non-profit arts organization,
and the writer and producer
for the We Sign series
of interactive video’s
and DVD’s featuring
American Sign Language
(ASL), music and movement
for children.
